Development of an Empirically Grounded Environment for Virtual Innovation and Creativity
Abstract
The interdisciplinary research project “Neurovation“ deals with the development of a virtual creativity environment focussing on the first phases of an innovation process in order to support people in generating ideas. The development works for creating this environment are based on interdisciplinary research by combining the topics “NEUROscience” and “InnoVATION” by using latest web technology. Psychologists, web developers, innovation experts as well as usability designers work together to develop creativity tools constituting the most important part of the Neurovation platform. This article describes the main theoretical foundations relevant for the tool development as well as the empirical efforts made up to now since the start of the project in 2005. Furthermore the tools are described by highlighting two of them and explaining how theory has been put into practice. The summary and the outlook give an overview to the further research work.
