Methods and tools for collaborative environments to support innovation opportunities.
Abstract
This paper outlines the literature surrounding the benefits and barriers to collaboration which are supported by findings from a study with organisations from the industrial sectors. Using the data the researchers developed potential solutions to address the identified barriers to collaboration and knowledge sharing. The solutions that have been developed have not tried to address all the identified barriers in isolation but rather develop a holistic process where each issue may be covered, dependant on its impact on the potential collaboration. This study offers insight into existing organisational barriers to collaboration, combines these with valuable theoretical literature, enabling the researchers to develop practical methods and tools to support innovation opportunities within collaborative environments.
